Abstract:

Album includes photographs of prisoners, prison grounds, guards and other personnel of Folsom State Prison (Folsom, Calif.). Activities depicted include prisoner entertainment and recreation, quarrying, and guard duties, as well as leisure time activities of prison personnel and their families. Includes 2 copies of a photograph of a prison guard posing with a Gatling gun. Also includes photographs of the aftermath of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire, depicting views of the city and scenes of refugee living conditions.
